Welcome! My name is Mrs. Andrews. I am the library media specialist at Coronado Beach Elementary School. Your child will be coming to the library media center about every week with his/her class. Depending on each grade level, we will enjoy a story, learn about how the media center works and how to use reference sources and various technology, as well as check out library books. Kindergarten and First grade students may check out one book at a time and students in second through fifth grades may check out two books at a time. All books are due two weeks from check-out date.
During our Orientation class, we will review how to care for books, the importance of returning books on time and in the same condition as they were checked out, as well as many other procedures used in the media center to help students make the most of their media experience.
Students returning books in damaged condition will receive a letter from the school requesting a replacement cost for the damaged book(s). Students who have not returned books one week after the due date of their book(s) will receive a letter from the school requesting the book(s) be returned or replacement cost for the lost book(s).
In addition, as a parent of an Coronado Beach Elementary student, you are welcome to check out up to five books from our school library media center, after filling out an application at out circulation desk. Your library card will remain at the circulation desk and may be renewed each year, as long as you have a student attending our school. Other materials are reserved for our teaching staff and cannot be checked out to parents due to limited resources.
Finally, the media center will be having two book fairs during the school year. Our first is planned for September. Our second Book Fair of the year is usually held in late winter or early spring. Hope to see you there! I look forward to working with your child this school year!
